Preference for large families continues to be a major factor determining levels of fertility in Ghana. Recent data from DHS demonstrate reasons why men and women prefer and choose to have large families. In the traditional Ghanaian society, fertility was also influenced by age where female age is the most important factor affecting fertility, previous pregnancies, duration of sub-fertility, timing and frequency of Sexual Intercourse.
