Social stratification is when a society or group of people are grouped based on a hierarchy that is unequal according to their power, education, caste, and occupation. In other words, individuals in a given society categorized according to their status. Social stratification is present and evident in Pakistan. The education level in Pakistan determines a person's social status. In Pakistan, an educated individual is respected and better rated socially mainly due to his/her profession and occupation. While illiterate people belong to the lower class. Additionally, in Pakistan, caste is an element that is important in social stratification. Where castes are considered either high or low. Moreover in Pakistan, power is also a social stratification element. This is mainly dependent on a person's financial resources, religious orientation, education, and how much one is outspoken in public.
