August Comte was a french mathematician, philosopher, and social scientist. He is known as the father of sociology as he was the first to develop this concept. He defined it as a positive science with positivism being the search of invariant laws of the natural and social world. He identified three main methods of discovering these invariant laws; experimentation, observation, and comparison.
