How do policies and practices differ for France regarding the use of corporal punishment?
Corporal punishment includes all forms of physical punishment, comprising, slapping, spanking, pinching, twisting, hitting, and pulling with an object. It also may comprise coercing a kid to eat or drink unfriendly stuff for example soap, hot pepper, or hot sauce.
Corporal punishment is unlawful as a sentence for a crime. There is no provision for judicial corporal punishment in criminal law. France has become the 56th country worldwide to outlaw smacking and other similar forms of violence towards children, after a unanimous parliament vote.
The organized utility of corporal punishment has been lacking in French schools since the 19th century. There lacks clear lawful prohibition on it. However, in 2008 an educator was penalized €500 for what some individuals define as smacking a pupil.
