Psychopathology is the study of the mental disorders, nature, causes, and treatment of mental disorders, and the study of maladaptive behaviors.
It can also be termed abnormal psychology because it conducts research that still relies heavily on scientific skills and the ability to ask and put information together in coherent and logical ways.
There are many approaches to treat psychopathology/abnormal psychology.
1. Biological approach focuses on the mental disorder if any the person would be suffering. Behavior therapy focuses on the problem due to which the person is getting distressed. This approach also focuses on the behavior of the person due to the environment. mental disorders are often treated by family, physicians, mental health specialists, to seek help. Observational approaches are the direct observation by the physician to the client. Psychoanalysis is an insight therapy that emphasis revealing the unconscious conflict, urges, the desire that is assumed to cause disordered emotions and behaviors. psychodynamic approach, humanistic approach, and gestalt therapy, and many more approaches. Mental disorders are defined in the diagnostic and the statistical manual of mental disorders.
