The growth of the ego Identity refers to the conscious sense of self that we create via social contact and that is continually evolving as a result of new experiences and knowledge we gain from our everyday interactions with others.

The experiences, connections, ideas, values, and memories that make up a person's subjective sense of self are all part of identity. This aids in the development of a consistent self-image that remains relatively constant throughout time when new parts of the self are created or enhanced.

People with delinquent behaviors lack such characteristics thus ending up having identity crisis.
