according to Freud what two innate motives are at the root of psychological problems
Freud believes that psychological problems are motivated by the two innate motives which are;
a) Instincts which are natural drivers and behaviors that bring them both pleasure and at times pain. for example a person may decide that he needs money now and therefore he will steal causing him psychological problems thereafter.
b) Ego and Superego which uses reason and logic and seeks pleasure and avoids pain but uses the reality principle to determine more realistic strategy to obtain pleasure for example; One realizes that he can't just steal money openly and therefore devises a strategy on how to trick him, get into the house unknowingly and steal money.
