Livestock possession confreres wealth and political influence on its ownership, enabling them to build influence. Livestock was so much valued among the khoesan communities and it was a sign of affluence and influence depending on the number of livestock owned by an individual. The khoesan therefore mainly practised pastoralism and moved with their livestock from place to place in search of greener pastures for their livestock which they valued and treasured so much .
