Adolescent peer groups deliver support as teens enter into adulthood. Major shifts include: increasing feelings of self-sufficiency, decreasing dependence on parents, and connecting with a much larger social network.

Consequently these are the merits of peer groups to individuals:

Peer Groups enhance risk-taking

Even though adolescents tend to involve in risky behavior more around peers than alone, peer groups can enhance an arena in which adolescents can learn, clarify and keep norms for social behaviors and practice these traits, enhancing socioemotional competence during a time when youth are trying to form their identity and form autonomy from their parents.

Enhances their Freedom to share ideas

Among adolescents, peer groups enhance thinking about a new growth strategy since they got every colleague they need to consult with. Sharing their ideas in an open and unbiased environment helps them to see what they are, and gives them strength and focus.

 

Professional and emotional support

Sharing their issues with others who have been there in whatever they engage be it studies or business will not only give youths perspective, it might give them the solution to face whatever problem they encounter.

Learning from more experienced peers can help youths to get life solutions.
