It has been observed that most private organisations will ensure that every training programme they conduct are evaluated; this is not the same for public sector organisations. Using Kirkpatrick’s criteria on training evaluation, write to the head of the Public Services Commission arguing why public sector organisations must evaluate their training programmes.
According to Kirkpatrick Model, Training
evaluation is an approach of data collection after a training program has been conducted. It is useful for determining the benefits of a training program to the employee(s) and the Organization. All trainings require evaluation since its effectiveness on the organization is tested. It helps find out whether the objectives of the training have been met. Evaluation then helps recommend a training program that best suits a particular need at a particular time with a particular organization.
Analysing a training program by using appropriate evaluation tools can improve the outcome of future trainings as there will be new and different perspectives on Organizational matters identified during and after the training.
