The serial position effect states that when a person is provided with a list of information, they tend to recall the first few and the last few words in the list. Murdock proved that a person can remember the first few words because they are stored in the long-term memoryless, which enables receivers to rehearse accoustically. The middle of a list contains too much information to be recalled. Similarly, words in the end of the list are a few and the receiver can easily remember them.
