. How has the “open source” software movement made an impact, personally, on you and your life?

Studying various open-source projects, I became more convenient in my programming skills and became sure that open-source does not mean 'bad quality'. I personally use Calibre, an open-source tool for E-books for more than 8 years and all I see is regular updates and improvements, so, I support this movement now and in in the future.
