POS tagging is a task of labelling each word in a sentence with its appropriate part of speech like nouns, verb, adverbs, adjectives, pronouns, conjuction, and their sub-categories.

Most of tagging falls under Rule Base POS tagging Stochastic POS tagging and Transformation based tagging.(TBL)

Advantages of POS tagging

• POS Tags are useful for building parse trees, which are used in building NERs.
• POS tagging is essential for building lemmatizers which are used to reduce a word to its root form.
• POS tagging is accurate tagging method.
• In TBL small set of simple rules and these rules are enough for dubugging.
• Complexity in tagging is reduced, especially in TBL.
• It is easy and faster since debugging is easy.
