Question

I am trying to calculate with a jsp when someone selects a checkbox in one item, but leaves another item blank, such as in an order form. But when the calculate button is clicked the next page displays only the words, "empty string" because of a vlue that was not entered on the previous order form. How do I handle this or ignore it? I want the next page to display my calculation and not display the words, "empty string"
