Structured data - is typically clearly defined, specific and stored in a predefined format. e.g. Geo-location, Stock market analysis where as an unstructured data is stored in their native format, a schema-on-read i.e. it is usually not processed until it is used. It doesn't have a predetermined data model. e.g. social media comments & reviews, detecting patterns or trends in a research being conducted.
In a typical business environment, the Structured data is widely used in most business environment as it provides self service access to a user. It's predefined format makes it friendlier for an average user. It is also highly organized and easily understood by machine language.
