The RIP routing protocol uses the distance vector routing protocol for data/packet transmission. The maximum number of Hop count is 15 because it prevents routing loops from the source to the destination. Wrong or incorrect routing is prevented by mechanisms like route poisoning and split horizon. The main advantage of using RIP is that it uses Datagram Protocol. The RIP is not a more intelligent dynamic routing protocol and it's used for smaller size organization. While the EIGRP is uses to allow router to share information to the neighboring routers which are within the same area. Here the only information which is needed is shared instead of sending the entire information to the neighboring router this reducing the workload. It allows maximum Hop count of up to 255 and the EIGRP is more intelligent routing protocol than the RIP. The EIRGP is basically used for larger Size organization as compared to RIP.
