There are basically 4 types of flow charting symbol, which are listed below -

The Oval -

This symbol used to represent the start or end of any process. It is also called terminator symbol or some times it is called as End or Beginning.

The rectangle -

It represents the go-to symbol or the process which is going on in the steps. The use of the rectangle to capture the process steps. For example basic task or action in the process.

The arrow -

It indicates the directional flow. Arrow is used to guide the viewer about the path of the steps and work flow.

Diamond-

This kind of diagram is representing the decision of the process.
