1. Unemployment and underemployment- According to the International Labour Organization, unemployment in Sub-Saharan Africa is roughly 6%. However, because the region has the world's lowest levels of access to higher education, the majority of the job available is unskilled or low-skilled. So, despite the fact that many Africans are employed, 70% of the labor in Sub-Saharan Africa remains vulnerable.

2. Infrastructure underinvestment- According to the African Development Bank, physical infrastructure is a barrier to productivity across much of the continent. It estimates that an annual investment of $130 to $170 billion in Africa's infrastructure is required, despite a funding shortage of up to $108 billion.
