Identify FIVE (5) features of Plato’s Ideal State
Plato is a born Athens Greek Philosopher who existed during the classical period of the ancient Greece. He was the founder of Platonist school of thought and Academy. He constructed an ideal state in the republic of Plato. He compared his ideal state idea to that of an artist sketching a perfect picture without much thought of individual characteristics or imaginations being in real existence. He believed that individual features are almost identical to that of a state. These features are;
Justice-the main feature of his ideal state. It is what brings peace and harmony in the society, Unity is strength.
Plato believed that philosophers should be prominent with a great vision of wisdom, knowledge and unity. He claimed such people were law provisions and public opinions immune.
According to Plato philosopher rulers need to have control over the education system for state to be ideal.
Art and culture are important aspects of the society and for this reason they need censorship. Complete control according to Plato would ensure immoral content would not be accessed by the minors.
Plato engineered the virtue of equality between men and women. According to him equal opportunities were to be given to both genders for their economic, social, intellectual and political welfare.
