Discuss how colonialism transformed the indigenous political systems in Nigeria
It is worth noting that European British rulers aided in the grooming of traditional rulers by allowing them to participate in the administration of their own communities, which finally aided in the preparation of self-rule. More importantly, the ex-service men's instruction from colonial rulers aided in the groundwork for self-government. Moreover, political institutions such as the legislative, judicial, and executive branches, as well as ideas like democracy, decentralization, the rule of law, and basic human rights, all contributed to Nigeria's unification as a sovereign body. In terms of politics, however, colonialism had sown the seeds of division, enmity, rancor, corruption, prejudice, mediocrity, class antagonism, and a lack of patriotism.
