Colonialism impacted on economic and political arenas of Africa. African states adopted more authoritarian and decentralized systems of administration, such as their colonizers. Morever, post-colonial African political system depicts marginalization and ethnic-based exclusion. Most states adopted one-party systems, while others have highly-restricted opposition parties. Further, most African authorities became corrupt following their colonial experience. Lastly, colonizers exploited African resources, rendering their administrative and economic systems weak in the global economy.
