You wish to measure the dimensions of a cubical box to check if your 32-inch television set can be placed in it. Which is more appropriate for you to use, a vernier caliper or a meter stick? Explain your answer.

Engineers at the caramel space institution must determine the net force needed for a rocket achieve an acceleration of 90m m/s/s. if the mass   of the rocket is 35,000kg, how much net force must be the rocket

 develop?

A 100-g body is attached at the end of a hanging spring constant of 2,000 dynes/cm. It is displaced 10 cm from it's equilibrium position and then released. Calculate the period (T). Find the maximum acceleration of the body. Find the acceleration of the body when it is 5 cm from the equilibrium position

1. What is motion?

2. How is motion affected by mass?

3. What forces affect an object at rest?

4. Enumerate and differentiate Newton's Law of motion and identify the formula used in solving problems for the three Laws.

An ant on a picnic table travels 40 cm east, 35 cm north, then 20 cm west. hat is the magnitude of the ant's displacement relative to its orginal position?

A simple pendulum is used in several experiments.

The pendulum is 1 m in length and the bob (the mass located at the

lower end of the pendulum) weighs 1 kg. A very accurate clock is used

to time the period of motion of the pendulum. Firstly, the timing

is

carried out with the pendulum located at the South Pole. Subsequently

the pendulum is relocated to the equator and the timing of its motion is

repeated.

Answer each of the following:

i.

Calculate the angular velocity of the pendulum bob when

the

pendulum is located on the equator.

ii.

It is found that its period of oscillation is slightly different when

timed at the South Pole and when timed on the equator. Explain

why this is the case.

in an experiment to measure the height of a ceiling, a pendulum bob was suspended from the ceiling so that the initial height h of the bob from the floor was 20cm. at this height, the bob was displaced and set into oscillation. the time for 20 oscillations was determined and recorded, this was repeated once and the average time t for 20 oscillations and hence, the period of oscillation t was calculated. the experiment was repeated for different heights of the bob from the floor and in each case the corresponding values of h,t1 and t2 was recorded and shown below. h(cm)= 20.00, 40.00, 60.00, 80.00, 100.00. t1= 46.30, 41.85, 37.95, 33.20, 28.85. and t2= 46.00, 41.95, 38.00, 33.35, 28.95. draw a table showing the corresponding values of h, t, t and t²

A plane is moving east at 200 km/hr. while you’re a moving west at 50 km/hr. If the frame of reference is you inside the car, describe the motion of the plane.

If you are riding in the backseat of a car moving 65 mph with your friend, how fast does your friend appear to be moving from your frame of reference? Explanation
