Over the years, building have been built out of lighter materials. How has this affected the natural vibration frequencies of buildings and the problem of resonance due to passing trucks, airplanes, or natural sources of vibration?

When we treat a building like a spring, we see that the frequency is proportional to k/m.\sqrt {k/m}.

As the mass decreases, the frequency increases.
