Two springs are made of two different materials, from wires of the same thickness. Both the springs have the same length and the same number of turns. Explain whether they are spring constants will be the same, or not.

According to the Hook's law (see https://www.khanacademy.org/science/physics/work-and-energy/hookes-law/a/what-is-hookes-law) the formula for the spring constant is the following:


"k = \\dfrac{EA}{L}"

where "E" is the Young's modulus, "A" is the area over which elastic force acts, and "L" is the length of the spring. In our case, all these parameters remain the same for both springs, except the Young's modulus. Different materials have different Young's modulus, thus, the spring constant of given springs are different.
