The time it took to make 22 oscillations was 38 s. The period, thus, is

$$T=\frac{t}{n}=\frac{38}{22}=1.73\text{ s}.$$

The only precaution taken in my case was to stay away from the pendulum at a safe distance because it had massive parts.
