A glass rod is rubbed with a dry cloth. The rod becomes charged and can pick up small pieces of paper.
a) Explain the origin of charge on the rod and state the type of charge on it.
b) Explain why the rod will not be charged if the cloth was wet.
c) Explain why on taking the charged rod close to the cap of a positively charged gold leaf electroscope, the leaf charges more.
