The capacitance of the capacitor is directly proportional to the dielectric constant of the material between its fields. For example, for the parallel plate capacitor, the dependence will be:


"C = \\dfrac{\\varepsilon_0\\varepsilon S}{d}"

where "\\varepsilon" is the dielectric constant of the material. For the capacotors with the different shape the formula will be different, but the direct proportionality will hold.


Thus, the capacitance of the capacitor will increase when a dielectric is placed between its field.
