Gluons are the type of particles involved in strong interaction.

An electron and positron annihilate producing a photon, which gives a quark and antiquark. The interaction between quarks results in hadrons:


Then the quarks emits a gluon. The interaction between the quark, antiquark, and gluon results in more hadrons:
