calculate the resistance of a wire of the same material of length 0.80 metre and diametre 0.32mm

l1=1.20ml_1=1.20\:\rm m

d1=0.64mm=6.4105md_1=0.64\:\rm mm=6.4*10^{-5}\:\rm m

l2=0.80ml_2=0.80\:\rm m

d1=0.32mm=3.2105m=d1/2d_1=0.32\:{\rm mm}=3.2*10^{-5}\:{\rm m}=d_1/2

R1=2.4ΩR_1=2.4\:\Omega

The resistance of a wire is given by

R=ρlA=ρlπd2/4R=\rho\frac{l}{A}=\rho\frac{l}{\pi d^2/4}

Hence

R2=R1l2l1d12d22=2.40.801.204=6.4ΩR_2=R_1*\frac{l_2}{l_1}*\frac{d_1^2}{d_2^2}\\ =2.4*\frac{0.80}{1.20}*4=6.4\:\Omega
