Question #144183

What is paschan back effect.

Expert's answer

The Paschen-Back effect is a phenomena that occurs in atoms when they are subjected to strong magnetic fields. When the magnitude of the external magnetic field approaches to the magnitude of the internal field of the atom, the atomic spectral lines rearrange because the electron coupling changes in this external field. This phenomena is called the Paschen-Back effect.
