Answer to Question #84787 in Mechanics | Relativity for Liekha

Question #84787
Laboratory tests on human teeth indicate that the area effective during chewing is approximately o.25cm² and that the tooth length is about 1.1cm. if the applied load in the vertical direction is 880N and the measured shortening is 0.04 cm, determine Young's modulus

Calculate the young’s modulus by the relation as follows:

E=PL/(A(dL))

Here force applied is P , area is A, length of teeth is L and change in length is dL.

E=((880 N)(1.1 cm))/((0.25 〖cm〗^2)(0.04 cm))

E=96800 N/〖cm〗^2
