Period T=T= time to complete one oscillation

At Equilibrium T0=mgT_0=mg

Restoring force on the pendulum mass displaced Fe=mgsinθF_e=-mgsin\theta

For small displacements sinθ=θsin\theta=\theta

θ=displacementxLengthl=xl\theta=\frac{displacement x}{Length l}=\frac{ x}{ l}

Thus:

Fe=mg(xl)Fe=-mg(\frac{x}{ l})

From Newton's second law a=Fem=gxla=\frac{F_e}{m}=- \frac{g x}{ l}

Also for simple harmonic motion a=xω2a=-x\omega^2

xω2=gxl-x\omega^2=-\frac{gx}{l}

ω=g/l\omega=\sqrt{g/l}

Since period T=2π/ωT=2\pi/\omega

T=2πl/gT=2\pi\sqrt{l/g}
