if we mix "5L" of ethyl alcohol and "12L" of water the volume will be:

"V = (5 + 12)L = 17 L"

But the actual volume will be less than "17 L" . The reason is that molecules that make up the ethyl alcohol are smaller than molecules that make up water. so , the ethyl alcohol molecules cram themselves between the water molecules.

As the volume decreases, density for the same mass will increase.

Answer:

hence the resultant density will increase for the same mass.
