if we mix 5L5L of ethyl alcohol and 12L12L of water the volume will be:

V=(5+12)L=17LV = (5 + 12)L = 17 L

But the actual volume will be less than 17L17 L . The reason is that molecules that make up the ethyl alcohol are smaller than molecules that make up water. so , the ethyl alcohol molecules cram themselves between the water molecules.

As the volume decreases, density for the same mass will increase.

Answer:

hence the resultant density will increase for the same mass.
