When the block is supported by one rope only, the tension is T1=PT_1=P , where P is weight of the block. When we pull the block fith the horizontal force F, it deviates by the angle α and the tension T changes its direction. In this case P=T2cosαP=T_2 \cdot cos α, from where T2=P/cosαT_2=P/cosα. cosα < 1, so T2>T1T_2>T_1. So the tension increases.
