When the block is supported by one rope only, the tension is "T_1=P" , where P is weight of the block. When we pull the block fith the horizontal force F, it deviates by the angle α and the tension T changes its direction. In this case "P=T_2 \\cdot cos \u03b1", from where "T_2=P\/cos\u03b1". cosα < 1, so "T_2>T_1". So the tension increases.
