Describe how switching the drsk lamp on and off shows that light waves transfer energy

If you put your hand near the lamp (desk lamp) you will feel a heat when the lamp switched on and feel nothing when off. Obviously heating = energy transfer is associated with a light from the lamp, isn’t it?
