The direction of an electric current is by convention the direction in which a positive charge would move. Therefore, the current in the electric circuit is directed away from the positive terminal and toward the negative terminal of the battery. The electrons move from the negative terminal to the positive terminal of the battery. Therefore, the electrons move in an electrical circuit in the opposite direction relative to the current.
