Q1. In parallel combination, voltage across each instrument remains the same. If components are connected in parallel then if there is any damage in any arm , it will not affect the others i.e. there will be no break down of the total circuit. This all is not possible in the series combination.
Q2. Series combination is used when there is need of constant current throughout the circuit. It also reduce the diameter of the wire required. So series is advantageous over parallel in this case.
