FTIR is Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy.

interpretation of FTIR data analysis:

IR spectrum has mainly four regions; region1 4000 to 2500, region2 2500 to 2000, region3 2000-1500 and region4 1500 to 400.

region1 includes functional groups like O-H , N-H and C-H. if there is characteristic peak in this region that may correspond to one of these groups. O-H generally have broader peak.

region2 generally has characteristic peak for triple bonds such as cyanide and alkyne group.

region 3 generally has characteristic peak for unsaturation in compounds like C=O , C= N and C=C.

region 4 is called fingerprint region of IR and generally has characteristic peaks due to single bonds like C-X ( where X is an halide or any group).

different compounds have different IR spectra.
