Students' worldview tend to refer to HIV/AIDS as a disease of poor, Black people or as an act of God to punish immoral behavior, an acceptable consequence of transgressing scripture.
Christian worldview prohibits new understandings of HIV and AIDS and inhibits favorable discourse around the topic. This worldview concludes that HIV infection is understood as God’s punishment for sexual immorality, this notion is used as an excuse not to get involved with the whole social issue of HIV.
Modern western worldview addresses HIV/AIDS individuals are people as’ equal right of living a free and autonomous life, and on a deeper level a recognition of the interdependency of all human beings on each other and the world they live in, the ‘selfishness’ of this worldview may be overcome to allow for a more empathic understanding of HIV and AIDS and those affected by it .
