What aspects of African-based teaching can you integrate into your own teaching philosophy?
African-based teaching emphasizes on Ubuntu which involves humaneness and interdependence. As a teacher, I would integrate these aspects in teaching philosophy since it entails rationality, which is culture-dependent and it differs from the Western culture. I would assert that one could find rational ethos like the traditional folktales in the past African community. These folktales embody a critical thought that the Western culture understands differently in their notion of rationality. In integrating these aspects, it would help offer a discourse to address the continent's many problems which include famine, hunger, poverty, abuse, violence and exclusion of the other.
