Coefficient of Correlation: is the degree of relationship between two variables say x and y. It can go between -1 and 1.

A negative correlation describes the extent to which two variables move in opposite directions. For example, for two variables, X and Y, an increase in X is associated with a decrease in Y.

Coefficient of Determination is the square of Coefficient of Correlation. It is always between 0 and 1. It can never be negative – since it is a squared value.
