Then for  samples of any size drawn from a normally distributed population the sample mean Xˉ\bar{X} is normally distributed (with mean μXˉ=μ\mu_{\bar{X}}=\mu and standard deviation σXˉ=σ/n.\sigma_{\bar{X}}=\sigma/\sqrt{n}.

Given μ=2.8,σ=1.9,n=84\mu=2.8, \sigma=1.9, n=84


XˉN(μ,σ/n)\bar{X}\sim N(\mu, \sigma/\sqrt{n})

XˉN(2.8,1.9/84)\bar{X}\sim N(2.8, 1.9/\sqrt{84})
