Suppose you can convert ordinal data to numbers, but these numbers cannot be used further because these numbers could be labels, but these numbers cannot be mathematically measured or determined (for example, ranking '4' is better than ranking '2', but not necessarily twice as good, besides, usual numbers in math can be subtracted, added, multiplied).
