Classification is a process related to categorization, the process in which ideas and objects are recognized, differentiated and understood.
Classification generates a series of mental relations through which children group objects according to similarities and differences, depending on different criteria: shape, color, size, etc. These relationships are the basis for the construction of logical-mathematical thinking.
For example, the work with sets and Venn diagrams (an illustration of the relationships between and among sets, groups of objects that share something in common) develops not only mathematical-logical intelligence but the ability of classification and management of reality according to their characteristics. This helps children to build their own conceptual network and, thus, learn.
