I'm in a college pre-calc class and I have a teacher who is notorious for giving incorrect information and the wrong answers to problems. Today he said that ((x^2)-(1/x^2))/((x^2)+(1/x^2) could and should be simplified by multiplying the top and the bottom by x^2 to equal ((x^4)-1)/((x^4)+1). Most of the students said that it was irrational, and didn't follow the rules of mathmatics but he insisted that this was the most simplified form of the problem. Please tell me if he is right or wrong.
Find 2 functions f and g such that the limit as x approaches 0 f(x) and the limit as x approaches 0 g(x) does not exist but the limit as x approaches 0 of [f(x) + g(x)] does exist
Evaluate the integral (upper limit 4 lower limit 1) dx/[2sqrt(x)*(1+sqrtx)^2] I have substituted sqrt x for u and end up with the integral du/(1+u)^2 (still from 1 to 4) but now Im stuck..I have tried the integral of du/(1+u)^2 = (1+u)^-2 but that doesnt work. I will be so grateful if someone could just explain where Im going wrong. Thank you. ( the coreect answer must be one of the following ln28: 3/4 : -3/4 or 1/6
