We now know that the entertainment broadcasting sector has shown itself incapable of policing itself, as well as reluctant to do so. I'm afraid that graphic, violent programming has gotten so prevalent, and has been proven to be so destructive, that we'll have no choice but to enlist the help of the government. I understand that Congress has been hesitant to address the issue of violence because it is difficult to define decency. Because we must address this issue, I will reintroduce my proposal. I understand how difficult it is to draw these lines. But, just because they're unpleasant, it doesn't mean we should ignore them. We can locate these lines and mark them with colorful markers.

We have a moral obligation to address television violence and provide our parents with the skills they need to keep their children safe for the benefit of our children and grandkids, but this is easier said than done. There are a lot of parents who are computer literate but can't figure out how to make such things function. Plus, they're not always present to check.
