1.0 New global consumer research shows how consumers are radically changing their lives in response to the pandemic. Many consumers in Namibia are facing new personal situations, with changes in income and leisure time, which are influencing attitudes and behaviors. Consumers are shopping with greater awareness of the environment, health and cost, favoring locally-sourced products and neighborhood stores. The huge rise in digital commerce in the country, especially among new or low-frequency consumers, is likely to continue post-pandemic.
2.0 Those who live in and around our neighborhood have higher incomes, have more opportunities in their lives, and tend to be healthier. Societies benefit as well. Societies with high rates of development projects such as shopping malls enjoy high rates of education completion and enjoy lower crime, better overall health, and civic involvement. Lack of access to education and developmental programs or projects is considered the root of poverty.
