Teams that embrace unity have a more likelihood of succeeding in projects due to the extent and strength of interpersonal connection that exists among the members. In this interpersonal bond, group members can readily participate and remain motivated in accomplishing goals. Such active bonds result in the creation of cohesive teams.
Notably, there are factors that are required for the success of cohesive teams. These factors are outlined as follows:
- Value and attitude similarity – similar values and attitude form an essential aspect that help in keeping members of a team united. As human beings, members tend to prefer working for companies that hold similar beliefs and codes of conduct since they provide some form of social validation.
- Group size – small groups have a higher chance of depicting cohesiveness than large groups. This is because within small groups, there is a high degree of communication and interaction. On the other hand, large groups have a decreased possibility of interaction.
