The city of Srinagar is the largest city and the summer capital of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in India. You have been invited as an external IT consultant by Government of India with a mandate to convert Srinagar into a “Smart City”

a)     Which “Smart” city in the world will you choose as a benchmark to emulate some of the best practices of that city into Srinagar? Provide at least 3 reasons with brief descriptions behind your choice of choosing that particular city as a benchmark?

b)    Suggest & describe at least 2 innovative technology enabled services that you will introduce into Srinagar so that it can be called as a “Smart city”?

A city that I will choose for bench-marking is Oslo city. The city has been installed with some sensors to control cooling, heating, and lighting. The second reason is that the city has smart parking whereby drivers are able to undertake parking activities online. A driver is able to realize a parking space that will be available in minutes to come. Thirdly, AI is being used in the city to control the transport sector.

I would also establish the AI project in Oslo to Srinagar so as to control the transport industry. Secondly, I will implement ambient intelligence technology to vehicles in Srinagar city so as to assist in controlling the rate of accidents. The technology enables vehicles to detect and sense accidents and avoid them in the process.
