Anchor manufacturing has decided to track their production process on a daily basis. Their group of management have requested for an external analyst to assess their information and get recommendation as to which area should the business focus on to generally improve their performance. Below is the recorded information for one week. All the scrap, defects, breakdowns, changeovers, rated speed and waiting times were recorded and documented for all the shifts.
Shift 1 hours scheduled is 60 hours per week
Shift 2 hours scheduled is 76 hours per week
Scrap (defects) for the two shifts is 2,9%
Breakdowns is 7 hours per week
Changeover times is 5 hours per week
Machine effeciency (rated speed) average is 89% per week
Waiting for material is 3,83 hours per week.
Calculate the OEE for the Anchor
Availability = (60 + 76 – 7 – 5 – 3.83)
(60 + 76)
= 0.8836
Quality = 100% - 2.9%
= 97.1%
OEE = Availability X Quality X Performance
= 0.8836 X 0.971 X 0.89
= 0.7636 or 76.36%
